2025 Sherman Dinner & Auction

The Elko Area Chamber invites the community to the 2025 Sherman Dinner & Auction happening Saturday, July 26th at the historic Sherman Station, outside, under the Northeastern Nevada stars.
This fundraising dinner benefits the maintenance and continued preservation of the historic Sherman Station and surrounding schoolhouse, creamery, welding shop, and barn.
Sherman Station, a true Nevada treasure built in 1903 by Bavarian rancher Valentine Walther. With nothing but determination and the help of a single ranch hand, Walther spent seven years crafting this remarkable structure entirely by hand. Today, it proudly stands as the largest historic “log cabin” in Nevada. Surrounding outbuildings, dating back to the 1880s, adds even more charm and historical depth. Thanks to Walther’s masterful craftsmanship, these buildings have stood strong for over a century.
The Sherman Station not only serves as a local visitor and information center but is also home to the oldest Chamber of Commerce in Nevada. This year’s fundraiser will specifically benefit the replacement of the Sherman Station’s no longer-working sign board that greets our community’s visitors outside of the Elko Area Chamber. The funds raised will help to purchase a new, latest-in-technology video board that will be a resource for both Chamber members and our community.
This year’s dinner will be catered by The Star Hotel and includes an open bar. Individual tickets or tables of 8 and 10 are currently available for purchase. The night includes dinner, raffle prizes, and live and silent auctions. The entire community is invited to join in supporting this crucial fundraising effort. To purchase tickets/tables contact the Elko Area Chamber at 775-738-7135.
