Women in Business Partners with Elko Senior Center to Invest in Elko’s Future

A community cornerstone for more than 50 years

The Elko Senior Center has long been a place of connection, care, and friendship for adults in Elko County. From daily meals to social engagement and essential services, the Center supports seniors in ways that strengthen not just individuals, but families and the wider community.

A rare opportunity to serve generations to come

As Elko continues to grow, so do the needs of its senior population. The Center is now serving more meals than ever before, and its current space and parking can no longer keep up with demand. To address this, the organization has a rare opportunity to secure 9.7 acres at Ruby Vista and College Parkway, creating room for a new, modern facility designed to safely and comfortably serve seniors for decades. The purchase price is $950,000, and the Center has one year to raise the funds. Every contribution brings the project closer to reality, ensuring seniors have a warm meal, safe access, and a welcoming place to gather.

Why Women in Business chose the Elko Senior Center

Each year, the Women in Business (WIB) event selects a charity partner whose mission aligns with long-term community impact. The Elko Senior Center stood out because its work touches nearly every family in Elko County, whether directly or indirectly. Supporting this project means investing in parents, grandparents, neighbors, and ultimately, Elko’s future.

A long-standing commitment to giving back

Giving back has always been a part of the  Women in Business event. Over the years, WIB has raised funds and awareness for a wide range of organizations addressing critical needs in the community, including Zero Suicide, Committee Against Domestic Violence (CADV), Nevada Institute of Forensic Nursing (NVIFN), and many others. These partnerships reflect WIB’s belief that leadership and community responsibility go hand in hand.

Turning an event into real impact

To support the Elko Senior Center’s land acquisition, this year’s WIB event will include both a live auction and raffle, with proceeds benefiting the project. WIB is currently seeking donations of auction items, raffle prizes, and monetary contributions to help maximize fundraising efforts.

How the community can get involved

Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and individuals who want to support the event while aligning with a cause that serves the entire community. Those interested in donating, sponsoring, or learning more can call 775-748-2706 or email advertising@elkodaily.com.
