Christmas Bazaar

Elko Senior Center’s 49th Annual Christmas Bazaar Returns!

The Elko Senior Center is thrilled to announce the return of one of the community’s most cherished holiday traditions, the 49th Annual Christmas Bazaar!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7 at the E-Center (Convention Center), the same weekend as the beloved Festival of Trees. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season right here in Elko.

Once known as the Nurses’ Bazaar, this long-standing event has grown into the largest fundraiser for the Elko Senior Center, supporting vital programs and services for local seniors. This year’s Bazaar promises to be bigger and better than ever, featuring more than 60 vendors, the vast majority offering hand-crafted items perfect for holiday giving.

Visitors can browse a wide array of artisan goods from woodcrafts, jewelry, photographs, soaps, and home décor to sewn, knitted, and crocheted creations, clothing, furs, and 3D-printed treasures. There’s truly something for everyone on your Christmas list!  Food lovers will find plenty to enjoy too, with vendors offering fresh breads, jams and jellies, salsas, sauces, fudge and candies, kettle corn, honey, and more. Don’t forget to stop by the booths with pet accessories and treats, and bring the kids along for face painting and family fun, along with some of the area’s best food trucks.

In addition to all the holiday shopping, local businesses have generously donated raffle baskets, and there will be a 50/50 raffle for a chance to win some “cold hard cash”, all in support of a great cause.

The Elko Senior Center has been proudly serving residents aged 60 and better for over 50 years, offering not only nutritious meals, both in the congregate Dining Room and through Meals on Wheels, but also a welcoming place for socialization, exercise, education, and health programs. Last year alone, the Center served more than 71,500 meals to local seniors.

This year’s Bazaar also brings an exciting new opportunity for the community to help secure land for the future of the Elko Senior Center. The current facility, in use for more than 20 years, has served the community well but it’s bursting at the seams. With over 110 people dining daily in a space that holds 128, and an average of 20 new members joining each month, the need for growth is clear.  The biggest concern is the lack of parking, with seniors needing to park on the street, a dangerous situation.

The Center has identified a 9-acre lot near the Peace Park as a potential new home site, but community support is essential to make it happen. “If every working person in the Elko and Spring Creek area donated just $50, we could secure land to ensure the Senior Center’s future,” organizers shared.

So come celebrate the season and support your Senior Center while you’re at it. Enjoy the festive atmosphere, find unique gifts, and make a difference for a cornerstone of our community.

We can’t wait to see you at the Christmas Bazaar during the first weekend of December at the E-Center (Convention Center)!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Elko Senior Center!
