The Family Resource Center is hosting Puppy Love, a 5K fun run/walk at Johnny Appleseed Park in Elko. In addition to raising funds for valuable FRC programming, it promotes physical exercise and socializing with runners, walkers, and dog lovers in a fun community event–all for a good cause! The event is open to all participants, with or without a dog. The registration fee is $35 the day of the race or $30 for pre-registration. Participants registered prior to August 1st are guaranteed an event shirt in their preferred size. Children under age 16 may run/walk, at no charge, with a registered adult; if children under age 16 want an event shirt, they must register. https:// runsignup.com/Race/NV/Elko/PuppyLove5K Same day registration begins at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the race. Walkers will start at 7:45 a.m. and runners will begin at 8:00 a.m. Following the 5K race, there will be a finish-line celebration with music, a raffle (including a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana), and free recovery refreshments. Raffle tickets will be $5 each, or 5 for $20. All registered participants will receive one free raffle ticket. There will also be a variety of sponsors with pet- and/or sports-related merchandise and services. Awards for dogs include Top Dog and Friendliest Pup. For safety reasons all dogs must be current on vaccinations, remain on a 6-ft. leash, and be friendly participants.
