Home Means Nevada

Elko County is being prominently depicted, through 2027, in a continuous series of Nevada-themed art exhibits outside of the greater Elko region.  Presently, “Home Means Nevada” is on display through November 17, 2026 at the Henderson Multigenerational Center. The Exhibit series is a tribute to the nation’s celebration of America250, by showing what makes Nevada endearing to the Nevada Wild group of artists. It follows “Discover Nevada’s Kids,” which showed activities that rural Nevada kids engage in, but  which urban kids are likely unaware of. These and upcoming visual art displays of photography, paintings and pottery build curiosity, awareness and appreciation throughout Nevada, of Elko’s unique cultures and lifestyles. Through informative captions, and featured in our Nevada Wild Art website, the public is exposed to new artists and more of their art. Learn some history of Nevada through visual storytelling and experience a sense of exploration of the state.

What does “Home Means Nevada” mean to you? 

How might you depict it artistically? For Lynne Kistler, one of her re-occurring themes show the solitude experienced by horseback riders in the Ruby Mountains. For Patty Fox, it’s the attraction of being present during ranching operations and capturing wrangles at work. For Gary Reese, it’s the plants, animals and the landscapes they dwell in around Nevada. For Susanne Reese, it’s our community, people and local events which catch her fancy, like parades and annual celebrations of cultural traditions. Each of these Nevada Wild artists are showing their art in the “Home Means Nevada” exhibition.
