The Elko Special Olympics Polar Plunge is quickly approaching and the weather is PERFECT!!!
If you are looking for a chance to be brave, dress-up in a costume, be part of a team, win incentives and door prizes and support a great cause then join us at the Polar Plunge. Courageous supporters of Elko Special Olympics are already busy getting their costumes ready and getting contributions to support Elko’s special-needs athletes. And…we need your help!! You can sign-up or captain a team to plunge in the Elko Swimming Pool on March 3rd. It’s EASY!!! Go to www.ElkoPolarPlunge.com to sign up or contribute to your favorite team. If you are not a “cold water warrior”, you can register as a “chicken” and you can raise funds for Elko’s Special Olympic athletes without getting wet.
Elko’s Special Olympic athletes could not train and complete without your help and contributions. Our biggest fundraiser is the ELKO’S SPECIAL OLYMPICS POLAR PLUNGE.
Last year’s Polar Plunge was a success in every way possible and we are looking to exceed those contribution totals. We had a warm Elko winter’s day, cold water, lots of fun, costume contests and the support from our community that always inspires. We had teams from the mines, area schools, businesses, law enforcement, families and health-care providers taking the plunge. There were more than 110 “plungers” last year and your community raised an incredible $15,381 for Elko’s athletes. It is their courage to brave the cold water and your generosity that allows our athletes the proudly represent Elko as they give their all in athletic competition.
