SHARE YOUR HOLIDAY
Sherry Smith, Exec Director of F.I.S.H.
As the holiday season approaches, many families in our local community will face challenges during this time. Friends In Service Helping (F.I.S.H.) is preparing holiday food boxes for families in need this December, and we kindly ask for your support.
This year, we aim to provide holiday food boxes to over 500 families, benefiting more than 1,200 individuals throughout Elko County, including families, seniors, children, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and community residents.
Our holiday food boxes will contain all the essentials for a hearty dinner, including breakfast items, canned goods, fresh produce, bread, and sweets. Most importantly, these boxes will be filled with love.
We are seeking assistance to meet this pressing need. F.I.S.H. Food Bank is looking for donations of 500 meat items, which can include turkeys, hams, chickens, or roasts, as well as canned goods such as green beans, corn, cranberries, and cream of mushroom soup. We also need boxed stuffing and gravy mixes. Additionally, the food bank will require funds to purchase fresh produce for these special boxes. Monetary donations can be made in person or online for those who prefer this option.
The Christmas Holiday Food Boxes will be distributed on December 16th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., December 17th from 9 a.m. to noon, and December 19th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Distribution will take place at F.I.S.H., located at 821 Water Street, Elko. All services will be available for drive-thru or walk-up access.
If you or your organization would like to assist with the distribution of these holiday food boxes, please contact us at (775) 738-3038, 4.
Additionally, a complimentary hot Christmas lunch will be served “to-go” on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This meal is available to anyone in need of a hot lunch, at no cost.
