Elko Pop Con
For the second year, all things popular culture can be found August 9-10, 2024 at the Elko Convention Center “E-Center.” After a successful first year, a decision was made to utilize both facilities to allow for more vendors, celebrities, panels, workshops and a separate game room. The Elko Pop Con will kick off Friday, August 9th at Noon and admission is (1) back to school item with donated items going to Communities in Schools.
This event has something for everyone; cosplay contest with a grand prize of $1,500.00, opportunities to meet actors, authors, artists or learn a new skill (or a few new ones) at one of the workshops. Take a seat in a panel session and learn more about acting, writing, cosplay or gaming. For those wishing to take part in the action, be sure to venture into one of the escape rooms-will you make it out?
Be sure to meet your favorite voice actors-Michaela Jill Murphy (Toph Beifong-Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Christopher Gorham (Barry Allen/The Flash). Meet your film favorites- Matthew G. Taylor from NEMESIS, Andrey Ivchenko from Stranger Things, Clive Standen (Rollo) and Lucy Martin (Ingrid) from Vikings. Don’t forget to chat with Adrian Ropp, a popular film animator and artist who has worked on the Pink Panther, Underdog and Archie comics.
Enjoy some food at one of the food trucks and be sure to hit the 80’s bar located in the Sage Lounge for some drinks and games. Stop by the vendor booths to get some early Christmas shopping done and be sure to enjoy some themed chocolate from The Truffle Cottage.
