Food Truck Fridays
When the temperatures warm up, so does the food scene in Elko County. Whether you’re a die-hard foodie or simply looking for a quick bite to eat, Food Truck Fridays offer something to please every palate. From traditional comfort foods like burritos or loaded fries to more exotic fare like Korean or American BBQ, there’s no shortage of options to satisfy your cravings. Of course, there are also options for dessert! One of the most significant aspects of Food Truck Fridays is their support of local businesses. Each food truck represents a small, independent venture, run by passionate entrepreneurs with a dream. By patronizing these mobile eateries, attendees not only savor delicious fare but also contribute to the growth and vitality of Elko County’s economy.
Starting in May, Tacos Las Brisas will host on the 3rd Friday of each month on the lot at 291 Idaho St in Elko. Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch to take back to work or you have time to let the kids play in the bounce house, Food Truck Friday is the place to be. On the 4th Friday of each month, Old Timey Ice Cream will host at The Hub at 232 Spring Creek Parkway in Spring Creek. In addition to a bounce house, events in Spring Creek will also feature live music from local musicians from 5-8pm each month. The events often have different food options and a completely different vibe, so you’ll want to plan on attending both! Each location offers a shaded picnic area to enjoy your food in comfort, but some people also choose to bring their own chairs to enjoy the live music in Spring Creek.
Food Truck Fridays are tentatively scheduled to run each month through August, with further dates pending weather. In 2023, Food Truck Fridays in Spring Creek extended into October, with a costume contest for kids and adults alike. Prizes were offered for best kid’s costume, best adult costume, and best group costume. There was also the first pie baking contest, with delicious entries from traditional apple and peach pies to a unique cheesecake pie. You never know what fun things await you at Food Truck Friday!
Voted Elko County’s Best Local Event in the Readers’ Choice Awards in 2023, Food Truck Fridays has also recently been featured by Travel Nevada for tourists looking to experience some different food options as they travel through Elko County.
