A Nevada Arts Council Basin To Range Exchange Project Cultural Landscapes of Nevada

Each year we celebrate the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko honoring Western Art and Artists.

Again this year, the California Trail Interpretive Center has generously donated the Southfork Gallery Space to showcase a multi-talented cooperative of brilliant artists. Our artists have been tasked with creating a fine art exhibit that communicates their feelings and passion for Nevada, Traditions, Culture and Lifestyle.

The Nevada Wild Artists are supporting the California Trail Interpretive Center by creating a professional and unique collection of artwork and we volunteer to advertise the Trail Center across the Interstate 80 corridor of collaborating museums and historic sites. Our goal and objective is that this network will enhance winter visitation at the Trail Center and encourage more travelers to stop and discover the arts, history, and cultural treasures in Elko.

Nevada Arts Council is also a collaborator by supporting the Basin To Range Exchange, a project aimed at discovering rural Nevada artists and recognizing their work and accomplishments by helping create partners with urban artists lending support and recognition to their rural counterparts.

Nevada Wild Artists have an important message to send out to our great Nevada family. We encourage you to discover and practice creativity with your youngsters. Art can be a rewarding and important family activity. An activity where children learn patience and focus, planning and perseverance. You will be amazed at the conversations that can develop over an active family art table. That table is where the input of the children, can often guide parents on a new path of discovery and create a climate for improved communication and exchange of ideas. Children can help guide their parents along a new path of expression and creative possibilities. In fact, children have a brilliant understanding of expressing their ideas and feelings through arts and the process of creating their art.

The creative brain is central to your personality and has an important benefit of supporting positive thought, relaxation, joy, accomplishment, and thoughtfulness. Practice any act of creativity such as painting, cooking, fabric art, sculpting, carpentry, molding pottery, or decorating your home, and practice important life skills that contribute to peace of mind, a grounded and centered lifestyle and greater appreciation of your surroundings, details, color, and a heightened awareness of all of all senses.

Special thank you and appreciation to our annual supporters, a team that honors the importance of art education outreach, appreciation and amplification of the arts in our Nevada communities. Thank you to the Northeastern Nevada Stewardship Group for hosting our reception and financing the Exhibit Catalog, the California Trail Interpretive Center and BLM for providing our art space, Southern Nevada Conservancy, Nevada Arts Council, Esmeralda High Desert Institute and artbarnit.com.
