Elko Broadcasting, an enduring institution in our community, is set to celebrate its 75th anniversary this December. For three generations, Elko Broadcasting has been a trusted source of news, entertainment, and companionship for the residents of Elko. This milestone is a testament to the unwavering dedication and commitment of the broadcasters who have served the community over the years. From humble beginnings to the present day, Elko Broadcasting has played an instrumental role in connecting, informing, and entertaining the people of Elko, leaving an indelible mark on the community it serves.

A Humble Beginning: In December 1948, Harold Thompson, a visionary entrepreneur with a passion for radio, founded Elko Broadcasting. Thompson launched KELK, Elko’s inaugural radio station, with a small team and limited resources. The station initially operated from a modest building but quickly became a focal point in the community. Thompson’s commitment to delivering quality programming and emphasis on community engagement set the foundation for Elko Broadcasting’s enduring success.

Connecting the Community: Over the years, Elko Broadcasting has proven to be an invaluable source of information for the people of Elko.
