Community Bazaar

November 19th, the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the Women of St. Joseph’s (WSJ) will be hosting its annual community bazaar.  The bazaar is held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mater Dei Hall located at 340 Fir Street in Elko.  Saturday hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Free coffee and breakfast breads will be available from 8:30 am to 10:00 am.  Homemade soup, chili, tamales, and pie will be served from 10 am to 2 pm.

The Women of St. Joseph is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to fundraising for various charities within the community and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Proceeds from this event will be used so that funeral receptions can be provided to families during their time of need, support youth activities, support projects in St. Joseph’s church and various charities within the community.

This bazaar is the longest running bazaar in Elko and its claim to fame is the homemade bake goods, pies, crafts and green chili chicken and red pork tamales.  These homemade goodies will be available just in time to be shared with your family and friends over your Thanksgiving Holiday.   This event provides the community with the opportunity to enjoy a warm bowl of soup or chili while visiting with friends, family, and neighbors.  Also, most importantly an opportunity to shop early for Christmas.

Other items that will be available for purchase include Equal Exchange coffee, tea and chocolates that promote fair trade to underdeveloped countries, numerus crafts constructed out of repurposed items, freshly made wreaths and garland, homemade ornaments, and raffle tickets.  The Cookie Café will also be opened so that you can choose one or more of your favorite cookies. Additionally, there are a limited number of booths available for rent.

For more detailed information, booth rental, or to pre-order tamales please contact Jody at 775-934-0729 or the church office at 775-738-6432.
