From the Boots to the Brush: Maverick Elko Casino & Hotel is Upping Elko’s Game.
If you have driven down Idaho Street lately, you have probably noticed some major improvements underway at the Red Lion Casino and Hotel. Maverick Gaming, the best-in-class regional operator, purchased the Red Lion Casino and Hotel in April of 2019 with the grand ambition of bringing a new experience to Northern Nevada. As the transformation continues, the property has received a fresh coat of Maverick Blue paint, all new landscaping, new gaming and food & beverage experiences, and a splashy marquee above the porte cochere.

More than just a new name, the new Maverick Casino & Hotel will deliver the only resort style Gaming experience in town. New amenities include: top of the line slot games; a dedicated high limit slot room; comfortable hotel rooms just off the casino floor; freshly remodeled dining options, redesigned locally inspired menus, an updated pool experience, and much more. Future plans include a digital marquee on Idaho Street and the I-80, and a pulsating neon light show in the Porte Coche that will let you know you have arrived. And on the heels of the successful introduction of the Play Maverick loyalty club, the property will unveil the new Play Maverick Sportsbook, a no gimmick sports betting experience and app.
Maverick Gaming is no stranger to small town ways and will pay tribute to the Red Lion’s impact on Elko’s past. General Manager Steve Sirianni wanted to pay homage to the history that paved the road for Maverick Casino and Hotel. “We have employees that have been here since day 1, some almost 40 years, and it was important for us to demonstrate respect to them and the community.” Maverick Casino will feature a Maverick Casino & Hotel History Wall with remnants of old signage, photos, gaming chips, and other nostalgic items.
The grand re-opening of Maverick Casino and Hotel is scheduled for Saturday, July 31, 2021. From now until Grand Opening, guests have the chance to earn tickets into a drawing for not one but TWO brand new Ford trucks that will be given away after the ribbon cutting ceremony. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment, drink special, photo ops, free giveaways, and more.
