We are Michelle and Kylie, a mother-daughter duo that co-founded and run Ophelia Flower Farm together. Michelle has worked full-time in the medical field for 17 years and continues to do so and Kylie just graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design and started working full-time as a graphic designer. However, Michelle has been an avid gardener for the last 25 years and Kylie has always dreamed of being an entrepreneur! So we decided to combine Michelle’s love for growing flowers and Kylie’s love for floral and branding design to launch Ophelia Flower Farm!

We knew that growing flowers in the High Desert was not going to be an easy task, so we decided to use 2019 as a trial year to really experiment and figure out what grows well here and what doesn’t! After a year of trial and error and lots of lessons learned we decided that we could make this whole flower farm thing work, and we officially launched Ophelia Flower Farm in 2020. We were both nervous wrecks the day we launched – because who launches a business in the middle of a global pandemic? We do! We figured it was either now or never! However, we were so overwhelmingly amazed by and thankful for all of the love and support our community showed our little business during our first season! Despite the whole Covid thing, our first season was a success and left us even more giddy and motivated for our next season! Because the growing season is so short in Northern Nevada, we only have about four months of flowers in the summer, but the other eight months are spent doing all the behind-the-scenes work to make those four months worth of blooms possible! As soon as our 2020 season ended we were quickly at work planning our 2021 season. We are so excited to share what we have in store for this flower season!

One of our main reasons for launching Ophelia was to bring something new and fun to the community! Our first year we got to share our blooms with everyone, but this year we wanted to expand on that a little bit. We wanted to create more of an experience for our customers! For this season, you will be able to find our bouquets and flowers by the bunch at the Ophelia Flower Cart!

We are in the process of renovating a vintage camper into our flower cart! We wanted to create a place for people to come and pick their bouquets and chat with us and maybe even take a picture in front of the flower wall that will be featured next to the flower cart! We are so excited to bring something new to do in the community and be able to connect with our customers more so than we were able to do before! You can follow along on Instagram and Facebook @opheliaflowerfarm as we turn the vintage trailer into our flower cart! Once the flower cart is complete, we will be posting our parking location and times weekly, so you can come and see us! We can’t wait to share our love of flowers with our community!
