On behalf of the Staff, Board of Directors, and the 700+ members of the Elko Area Chamber, we would like to thank Nevada Gold Mines for their continued support of the Chamber and our community.
Nevada Gold Mines recently purchased 1.1 million dollars in Chamber Checks from the Winnemucca, Battle Mountain and Elko Chambers. Almost $800,000 in Chamber Checks were distributed in our community. Nevada Gold Mines gave $150 to each of their employees hoping to help stimulate the economy and to help the small local businesses that are struggling to survive.
Chamber Checks were developed and introduced to increase awareness of the importance of shopping locally and supporting local businesses. The goal is for Chamber Checks to act as a catalyst to inspire businesses to reinvest in the community. With almost 9 million dollars that has stayed in our community, it shows that businesses recognize the economic value of spending locally and encouraging their employees to recirculate their money within the Elko area.
As this is a Chamber member benefit, only members of Chamber can accept Chamber Checks. If you are a member that accepts Chamber Checks and need signage for your business, or if you are member and are interested in accepting Chamber Checks for the first time, let us know and we will provide you with signs and more information. For businesses that are not members, but would like to take advantage of the program, we would love to have you join the Chamber. We have payment or deferred payment options available currently.
