Dear Client,
Health Insurance has been a hot topic the last several years and some big changes are coming to Elko County for individual health insurance policies on the ACA Exchange (Obamacare). Anthem has decided to leave the individual health insurance exchange market in Elko and other rural counties in Nevada for the 2018 plan year.
Centene is a new company that will be offering individual health plans through their product Ambetter. The Ambetter plans will have their own network limitations and policy designs. Another big change is that Open Enrollment has been shortened to a 45-day period beginning November 1, 2017 through December 15, 2017. However, the anonymous shopping tool will be available October 1, 2017.
As your tax advisor, we understand you may face a penalty for not having qualified health insurance for the 2018 year, however, the most important thing to us that your family has health insurance protection. Because of all the new changes we have teamed up with Andrew Polish of Riverside Benefits. Andrew is a licensed health insurance Broker in the State of Nevada and has met with our team several times to educate us on the individual and group health insurance opportunities that our clients may qualify for.
We think it would be worth a few minutes of your time to contact Andrew over the phone to see what you may qualify for, as he understands the networks and policy designs available. By law, there is no cost to you for using a licensed broker on the exchange, and we believe the knowledge and experience that Andrew can potentially bring to you is worth your time. Andrew can begin reviewing these plans with you as early as October 1, 2017. Please see Andrew’s contact information, which we have included for your convenience. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
Sincerely,
Your HR Block Team
