Flower of the Month

Most of us know that each month has a birthstone. You probably even know what yours is. For instance, if you happen to have a July birthday your birthstone is ruby. What you may not know is that you also have a birth flower.

Just as birthstones have special meaning —for example, the ruby means wisdom, love, and health — birth flowers also have special meaning.

The birth flower for July is the Delphinium;
more commonly known as Larkspur.

The Larkspur is a beautiful flower which can grow up to eight feet tall. It has long, delicate petals which sometimes resemble a dolphin’s nose.

The Larkspur is said to bring levity and lightness. Its natural beauty comes in gentle hues with a refreshing fragrance.

Each color variation of the Larkspur has a different meaning:
Pink means fickleness
White conveys a happy nature
Purple represents a first love.

Generally, all colors of Larkspur indicate strong bonds of love.

Flowers remain a welcome substitute for words, enhancing the giver’s message with fragrance and beauty. Perhaps someone you love has a July birthday. Consider giving the gift of flowers and including the beautiful Larkspar in the arrangement. After all, Larkspur means love.
