5 Essentials for a more
FASHIONABLE FABULOUS SPRING

For many of us the shift in seasons comes with a “AHA” moment while standing in front of our closets stating out loud, “I have nothing to wear.”Spring outfits are somewhat complicated. From layering it on for the brisk morning chill just to strip it off at lunch in our sunbaked car. While this layering process can be frustrating we have compiled a few tricks, hints and essentials to make the changing of your wardrobe just as exciting as the change of the season!

LIGHTEN UP THE FOOTWEAR

While your feet or the slushy streets may not be ready for sandals its time to lighten up the footwear. Put away the black, dark brown and charcoal thigh high, over the knee and mid calf boot. BOOTIES are my go to Spring shoe. Booties, depending on their weight and style can be worn almost year round. A soft sand, blush or gentle grey color will blissfully take you through Spring and well into Summer. Cutouts are key for Spring footwear. Laser cutout details, open side, multi straps and peep toe booties say Spring time more than a bootie that covers your entire foot. BE A RULE BREAKER…. As for boot height I find a fashionable exception for thigh high or over the knee boots in lighter colors. When worn with a floral, stripped or soft color skirt or short dress. The frill of the dress helps to “lighten” the weight and look of the boot.

De…..light…..ful Accessories
By choosing softer colors and lighter textures your accessories can take a Fall outfit straight to a sunny Spring outfit.

Example: For Fall you would choose a very color drenched jewel tone- for Spring just think of “watering down” the color. Turn wine into blush. Lemon instead of mustard. Change the midnight blue to a sky blue!

Spring accessories can also be more playful. Critter inspired jewelry is a huge trend. Weather its a tiny bee, origami squirrel, cute elephant or even a little lizard, critter jewelry shows a fun and free spirit personality.

Workin the Cardigan
We may not be ready for linen or gauze weight fabrics but bring on the cotton, jersey and rayon blends. Lightweight layering makes it easier to be covered and cozy in the brisk a.m hours but not sweating by the afternoon. Jersey or bamboo blend cardigans feel ahhhhhhhmazing against your skin in any temperature. Wear a bright fresh cardi over a basic tee, tank or cami.

Knits can also be tricky in Spring. Keep them light. Go with a loose knit or primarily cotton blend knit cadi or V-neck sweater. Opening up the neckline allows for a breezy feel and creates the perfect canvas for layering necklaces or jump on the TREND TRAIN with a silk scarf. This trend is literally being worn by every fashion influencer. The silk scarf is the perfect way to add color, texture and Spring flare to your outfit.

Spring Denim

Denim makes any seasonal transition effortless!
To me, Denim screams SPRING TIME.

: Distressed skinnies
: Jeans Jackets
: Chambray button downs
: My favorite – Overalls and Culottes.

YES-CULOTTES ARE BACK and I’m living for them this Spring and Summer!!!

KIMONOS!!!
Kimonos made their glorious come back last Spring and are going strong into this Spring. I can’t get enough of how fabulous I feel floating around in a kimono. You can find them in any fabric and print. Lace, silk. Florals, stripes. Just to name a few.

Keep them casual with weekend wear or dress it up for date night. You can even wear a kimono pool side for the perfect swim cover up.

Now that you have the essentials for Spring style, bust open your closet and create the most chic, bright and happy (I don’t care if there’s frost on my windshield) SPRING TIME OUTFIT!!!
