Surprise the movie lover on your holiday list with tickets to February’s Great Basin College Film Festival. Tickets will be available for purchase on Dec. 15 at the Western Folklife Center Gift Shop.

The Great Basin College Film Festival Committee promises many cinematic surprises during their 15th Annual Film Festival to be held Feb. 14-15, and Feb. 21-22. Movies are shown at the Western Folklife Center and GBC Theater beginning at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. featuring snacks provided by culinary sponsors. The WFC bar also opens at 5:30.

Oscar Shorts tickets are $10 each night or $25 for a three-night package. A student/senior discount is available for some films.

“The festival’s feature film, “Parasite,” is intriguing – not only because the director begged journalists not to write about all the twists and surprises in the movie – but also because it defies genre labels,” says Russ Minter, GBC Film Festival Chair. He notes that reviews have been stellar with the New York Film Critics naming it the “Best Film of the Year.” This movie will be shown Friday, Feb. 21 at the GBC Theater.

Oscar-nominated documentary, animated and live action short films are local community favorites, and will be screened at the Western Folklife Center and GBC Theater.
